Medford Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics

When should my child first see the dentist?
We recommend scheduling your child’s first dental visit by their first birthday or when their first tooth appears. Early visits allow your child to become familiar with the dental office environment while helping our team monitor oral development, discuss proper home care, and address concerns before problems arise.

Our practice is designed specifically with children in mind. We use a calm, gentle approach and explain each step in age-appropriate language. Appointments are never rushed, and we work at your child’s pace to build trust and confidence over time.

Most children benefit from routine dental visits every six months. These regular visits allow us to clean teeth thoroughly, check for cavities, monitor jaw growth, and reinforce healthy habits at home.

Yes. We use modern digital X-ray technology that emits very low radiation levels. X-rays are only taken when clinically necessary and help us detect issues that cannot be seen during a visual exam alone.

Daily brushing twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, flossing once a day, limiting sugary snacks and drinks, and maintaining regular dental visits are all key to preventing cavities. Our team provides personalized guidance based on your child’s age and risk factors.
An initial orthodontic evaluation is recommended by age seven. At this stage, we can identify potential bite or growth issues early and determine whether early treatment or simple monitoring is best.

Not every child requires immediate orthodontic treatment. Some benefit from early intervention, while others are best treated during adolescence. We take a conservative, individualized approach and only recommend treatment when it provides a clear long-term benefit.

We offer traditional braces, clear braces, and Invisalign® clear aligner therapy. Each option has unique benefits, and we will help guide you toward the best solution based on your child’s needs and lifestyle.

It is normal to experience mild soreness for a few days after braces are placed or adjusted. This discomfort is temporary and usually managed easily with over-the-counter pain relief and soft foods.

Treatment length varies depending on the complexity of each case, but most orthodontic treatments last between 12 and 24 months. We will provide a customized timeline before treatment begins.

Once treatment is complete, retainers are essential to maintain the results. We provide detailed instructions and follow-up care to help protect your child’s new smile for years to come.
